Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat said that it is the responsibility of the state government to ensure that all those coming to attend the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar have a trouble-free experience and go back with a positive message. He said this while chairing a meeting with officials to review arrangements for the Kumbh Mela here on Saturday.
He said that all the officials should work in coordination and meet deadlines to ensure proper arrangements for the Kumbh. The aim of the state government should be to enable the maximum number of people to attend the Kumbh Mela while observing the Covid-19 guidelines. Rawat said that in the Kumbh area, the road repair works should be completed and construction material lying on the roads should be cleared immediately. Directing special focus on maintaining sanitation in the Mela area, he instructed that the posting of adequate number of sanitation inspectors and workers be ensured for this purpose. Cleanliness and adequate number of toilets should be ensured in the Mela area, he stressed. Rawat directed that in addition to providing land to Shankaracharyas and Bairagi Akhadas attending the Kumbh, focus should also be laid on developing necessary infrastructural facilities in such areas. Further, he instructed that the posting of necessary additional officials for the Mela arrangements should also be done soon. If more arrangements are to be made for the Kumbh, the proposals for the same should be submitted to the state administration within two days, he said. The departmental secretaries were directed to personally review Kumbh works and make field visits to inspect the same. Calling for efficient security arrangements, he said that in the coming Shahi Snans the arrangements should be better than during the occasion of Shivratri.
Secretary Shailesh Bagauli informed that as part of the Kumbh Mela arrangements, 203 construction works costing Rs 661 crore are being undertaken. In these, most of the permanent works have been completed while the temporary works are being done at a swift pace. The Kumbh Mela officer Deepak Rawat made a presentation related to the Mela works and arrangements while the Mela inspector general Sanjay Gunjyal made a presentation on the security arrangements.
Chief secretary Om Prakash, director general of police Ashok Kumar, principal secretaries Anand Bardhan, RK Sudhanshu, secretaries Amit Negi, Nitesh Jha, Dilip Jawalkar and Garhwal commissioner Ravinath Raman were also among those present in the meeting.
