In protest against what he termed false claims made by the state government in dealing with black fungus (Mucormycosis) and non availability of the injection used for its treatment the vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana staged on a Dharna at the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun on Saturday. The Congress leader later ended his protest on the request of Director General (DG) of state health services, Dr Tripti Bahuguna. Talking to the media persons, Dhasmana said that the patients of black fungus are not getting the injection and in its absence their relatives are making rounds of the CMO office from the last two to three days. He claimed that the CMO of Dehradun and nodal officer for Black fungus were not picking up his phone. “The officials here have only one answer that they don’t have the injection and they will make it available when it would be allotted to them. It shows that the claims made by the government were false,’’ he said.
The Congress leader said that he told the DG of health services that there should be total transparency in treatment of Black fungus and allotment of injections. He informed that the DG has directed the CMO to prepare a list of the patients who are required to be given the injection and they should be provided the medicine as per the list.
