Considering the significant decline in the positive cases of Covid-19 in Dehradun, the regional transport office (RTO) has increased the number of slots for online registration of learning licenses from 25 to 50 daily registrations. However, the officials made it clear that only those candidates can register online who had applied earlier for a learning license but could not give the driving test due to the Covid curfew.
As informed by assistant regional transport officer (administration), Dwarika Prasad, there is a backlog of over 10,000 driving licenses which would probably take about three months to clear. The RTO will soon increase the number of slots for permanent licenses too to clear this backlog so that new applicants can apply for driving licenses too, stated Prasad.
