Massive show of strength by Harish Rawat camp
The newly appointed Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal assumed office with a massive show of strength in Dehradun on Tuesday. Godiyal accompanied by the former chief minister and head of the election campaign committee Harish Rawat received a tumultuous welcome at Dehradun airport, Jollygrant in the morning. The convoy of Godiyal was stopped at many places en route to Dehradun by the enthusiastic workers of the party. Before assuming the office Godiyal visited the martyrs’ memorial where he offered his homage to the martyrs of the statehood movement. Later addressing a massive gathering of the party workers and leaders at the Rajiv Bhawan, the new PCC president said that he would seek cooperation of all senior leaders of the party while discharging his duties. Expressing his gratitude to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former president Rahul Gandhi for giving him the important responsibility, Godiyal said that the Congress party has a history of giving sacrifices for the cause of the nation. He exhorted the party workers to throw the BJP out of power in Uttarakhand. The in charge of Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav said that the new team selected by the Congress leadership in Uttarakhand is a mixture of youth and experience. He said that the BJP government has failed miserably in Uttarakhand.
Former CM and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Harish Rawat asked the party workers to work unitedly to oust the BJP out of power in Uttarakhand. He said that the BJP government and the Modi’s Gujarat model of governance was exposed in the second wave of pandemic of Covid 19 when lakhs of people died due to lack of treatment and oxygen. He added that the Covid-19 testing scam in Kumbh is a blot on the face of Uttarakhand. The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Pritam Singh reminded that in the run up to the assembly elections of 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised that the loans of farmers would be waived off if a double engine government is formed in the state but the promise has remained unfulfilled till date.
The gathering was also addressed by former PCC president Kishore Upadhyaya, the four new working presidents Ranjit Rawat, Bhuwan Kapdi, Jeet Ram and Tilak Raj Behed, deputy leader of CLP Karan Mahra, deputy in charge of Uttarakhand Congress Dipika Pandey, Prakash Joshi, Kedarnath MLA Manoj Rawat and others.
