Stating that the State Government has failed to make proper arrangements for transportation since sections of the Ranipokhri bridge collapsed last week, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ajay Kothiyal claimed of building an alternative bridge within 48 hours if the government gives him a chance. He said that the government has claimed to spend Rs 40 lakh for repairing this bridge in December last year but it collapsed within few months. He stated that illegal mining is being done in various rivers which cause such accidents due to which the public have to face such issues. Kothiyal, who played a crucial role in the reconstruction of Kedarnath after the 2013 tragedy stated that he and his team have done such construction works in Kedarnath and if the government permits, they are ready to do it again for the public.

“We have built a bridge in Kedarnath in extreme conditions and since we have the experience, we can give suggestions to the government too,” stated Kothiyal. According to him, the government is wasting time on just talking about investigating the collapse of the sections of the bridge and making an alternative path rather than actually making an alternative arrangement for transportation for the public in the last six days. The government can provide an alternative path by building a Bailey bridge and after the flow of water stops, the government can build this bridge according to its plan, stated Kothiyal.
