Claims that his govt is focussing on simplification, solution and fast disposal of work
The chief minister Puskhar Singh Dhami who in view of the upcoming assembly elections is on an announcement making spree promised eight new government colleges in different parts of the state on Saturday. He also promised to upgrade seven degree colleges to PG colleges.
The CM made these announcements on the occasion of the inauguration of the science block in the government Post Graduate (PG) College, Raipur Maldevta on Saturday. He said that new government colleges would be opened in Dehradun city, Haridwar city (Bhupatwala), Haldwani city, Gadarpur Udham Singh Nagar, Danya in Almora, Kaljikhal and Khirsu in Pauri and Deval in Chamoli. He added that government colleges of Munsiyari (Pithoragarh), Gairsain (Chamoli), Kapkote (Bageshwar), Someshwar, Halduchaud (Nainital), Laksar (Haridwar) and Thalisain (Pauri) would be upgraded to the PG colleges. He said that 50 and ten teaching posts would be created in the Undergraduate and PG colleges respectively. The CM declared that one video conferencing hall and a modern lecture hall would be constructed in all the government colleges of the state.
In an important announcement, the CM said that in view of the New Education Policy (NEP), a high level committee headed by a renowned educationist would be set up for starting interdisciplinary courses and recommending changes in existing curriculum. He said that PG courses in Home Science and science stream. In his address, the CM said that his government is focussing on simplification, solution and disposal of work and he has ordered the officers to stick to the principle of no pendency in work. He said that all the officers have been asked to listen to public grievances from 10 am to 12 am on every working day. The CM said that the government is focusing on generating employment and linking youth with employment.
Speaking on the occasion, the higher education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that 1.07 lakh students are enrolled in the government colleges of the state. He said that the facility of 4 G wifi is being given in all colleges and every student would be given a tablet.
