Amid the scare of the Omicron variant of the Covid -19 in Dehradun, the state health department reported 29 new patients of the disease in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. Death of one patient of the disease was also reported on the day. This patient was reported dead at B C Joshi (DRDO) hospital Nainital.
The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state is now at 3,44,631 while a total of 3,30,858 patients have recovered from the disease so far. A total of 7415 patients of the disease have so far died in the state. The recovery percentage from the disease is at 96 per cent while the sample positivity rate on Tuesday was 0.17 per cent.
The state health department reported nine new patients from Haridwar, seven from Dehradun, six from Nainital and one from Pauri Garhwal on Tuesday. No new patient was reported from the remaining nine districts on the day.
The state now has 168 active cases of Covid-19. Dehradun with 58 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Nainital and Haridwar have 28 and 25 active cases of the disease respectively. Bageshwar, Tehri and Uttarkashi now have no active cases of the disease.
In the ongoing vaccination drive 49,070 people were vaccinated in 998 sessions in the state held on Tuesday.
