Dr Mamgain said that the 31 year female, a resident of Dehradun had met with an accident which resulted in deficiency in hearing and eventually she lost all her hearing capability. She said that her surgery h lasted for one and a half hours in which the cochlear implant of the woman was done. This surgery was conducted by the ‘Veria’ technique which is an advanced technique of cochlear implant. “Cochlear implant is a boon for those adults who previously had a normal hearing capacity but due to certain accident or any medical reason, they lost the hearing capacity. In such cases, if desirable results are not obtained by the use of hearing aids, then cochlear implant is the only option available,’’ she said.
