IIP Dehradun playing key role in country’s progress- CM Dhami

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP) is playing a vital role in the journey of the country from dependence over fossil fuels to renewable fuels. He was participating in the 63rd foundation day of the IIP Mohkampur here on Thursday. The CM said that it is a pleasing coincidence that the foundation day of the institute is being celebrated on the day of Baisakhi and Mahair Jayanti and anniversary of B R Ambedkar. He also paid floral tributes to the picture of Dr Ambedkar on the occasion. CM said that the scientists of IIP have achieved major success in different fields which includes the technology for diesel making from the plastics and bio fuels for the aeroplanes. He said that the IIP was instrumental in setting up 108 oxygen generation plants in different parts of the country during the pandemic of Covid-19. In Uttarakhand the plants were set up in Almora, Chamoli, Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, Nainital, Rudraprayag and Udham Singh Nagar which helped patients in more than 100 hospitals of these districts. Dhami suggested that IIP should adopt ten development blocks located in border areas and plan about their development. He said that the state government is committed to fulfil the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make Uttarakhand a leading state of the country by the year 2025. The CM said that IIP Dehradun is the lone Biojet fuel maker of the country. In the year 2018 the first bio jet fuel flight from Delhi to Dehradun used the fuel prepared by the IIP Dehradun. He added that the institute is engaged in many works of skill development and providing livelihood to the youth of Uttarakhand.
He expressed hope that the scientists of IIP would work in the sectors of forest fire, storage of fruit and vegetables, transportation and pollution control and management.
The director of CSIR- IIP Anjan Ray, director of research and development at IOCL SSV Rajkumar, Purnima Arora, Durgesh Pant and scientists and employees of IIP- Dehradun were also among those present on the occasion.
