Eid turns fatal, four UP residents drown in Kho

Four persons died and two were injured when six members of a family from Nagina in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh drowned in the Kho river at Dugadda in Pauri district on Tuesday. The persons were reportedly on an outing to celebrate Eid when the mishap occurred. On being informed by the locals, the Dugadda police reached the site near the Durga temple. The police retrieved all the persons from the river after which it was ascertained that four of the persons had died while two were injured.The two injured persons were admitted to the base hospital in Kotdwar. According to the Dugadda police station house officer Deepak Panwar, the police got information from the locals that some persons were drowning in the Kho river near Durga temple. The police sprung into action following the information and rescued the injured while also retrieving the bodies. The four persons who died have been identified as Nadeem (42), Jav (29), Guddu (24) and Ghalib (15) all residents of Nagine in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. The injured admitted to the hospital have been identified as Salman and Shabaz- both residents of Nagina in Bijnor. The six family members had come to Dugadda on an outing to celebrate Eid when the mishap occurred.
