The expectations and stress of aspirants are high in view of various entrance examinations. For 33 years, Allen Career Institute has been providing coaching and guidance to students preparing for various entrance examinations. Allen Dehradun’s centre head Girish Gaur spoke in detail about the institute’s journey in the state beside his concern for students slacking in preparations because of the pandemic.
The Dehradun centre was inaugurated in January 2021. Talking about the Dehradun centre’s journey since its inauguration in January 2021, he said, “Allen is a renowned name and thousands of students and parents have faith in it. Our aim is to provide top quality preparation to the students of Uttarakhand, and we have been successful in doing so. The people of Uttarakhand have high hopes from us and we are confident of meeting their expectations.”
Regarding the mental pressure that aspirants face, Gaur said the institute is aware of how stressful preparations can be. Gaur said, “We have hired psychologists and also conduct seminars to interact with students and their parents. We discuss with parents even topics like what type of food affects students, importance of the place and location of studies, importance of synchronisation of body clock and so on.”
Talking about negative impact of failure Gaur said, “Some students study because of peer pressure or sometimes they get diverted from their goal. For such students it is best to interact from time to time with their teachers and parents. If the vision is clear and the student is studying with interest, then success is certain. They might not get selected in their desired college but with determination and vision they would surely achieve success in their lives.”
He said that the Covid pandemic was a challenge which was handled successfully by the institute. “We came up with the Allen plus platform, where we conducted live classes and online tests. Covid has not affected us. We took it as a challenge and came out with flying colours.” Gaur expressed concern on how Covid had affected school education. Advising the aspirants preparing for entrances, he said, “There are no shortcuts to success. If a student adheres to these four factors- hard work, firm determination, vision and discipline, he or she is sure to attain success.”
