NSUI holds protest against Agnipath scheme

The workers of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) held a protest against the Tour on Duty (TOD) scheme of the armed forces here on Saturday. The NSUI workers marched from Congress headquarters to the Clock Tower where they torched the effigies of the Prime Minister, Defence Minister and chief minister of Uttarakhand. The Khatima MLA and the deputy leader of Congress legislature party Bhuwan Chandra Kapdi was also present on the occasion to express his support to the protest of NSUI.
Interacting with the media persons, Kapdi said that the youngsters of the country work hard for years to fulfil their dream of getting a job in the armed forces. He said that the youth are agitated because the government has not declared the result of the recruitment examination of the armed forces. Kapdi said that the youngsters are venting their anger after the government came out with the Agnipath scheme and the Congress supports their protest.
The state president of the NSUI, Mohan Bhandari said that the Modi government wants to implement the Agnipath scheme with force. He warned that the NSUI would start a statewide agitation if the government fails to take back the TOD scheme.
Former state president of NSUI Shyam Singh Chauhan, Mahanagar president Lal Chand Sharma, district president NSUI Saurabh Mangain ,Vikas Negi and others were present on the occasion.
