More than 4 crore expected to attend Kanwad Mela this time

CM Dhami reviews preparation for 12-day Kanwad Yatra in Haridwar
With more than four crore people expected to arrive in Haridwar during the Kanwad Mela starting on July 14, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed all officials to ensure that necessary arrangements are made on time. He has directed principal secretary RK Sudhanshu to monitor all the arrangements regarding the Kanwad Mela in Haridwar. Dhami issued these instructions while chairing a review meeting here on Friday.
The chief minister directed the officers that all necessary arrangements should be made before the commencement of the Kanwad Mela to be held from July 14 to 26. It should be ensured that health, electricity, drinking water, parking, sanitation and all other necessary arrangements are up to the mark in the Kanwad Mela. He also appealed to all the Kanwadiyas to plant one sapling while undertaking the pilgrimage to Uttarakhand. Regarding officials who have been deputed to duty for the Kanwad Mela but have not yet had their booster dose against Covid-19, Dhami said that they should be administered the booster dose without delay. A WhatsApp group should be formed for the Kanwad Yatra in which senior officers of the State administration, police and district officials related to the Kanwad Mela are included.
Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj said that with at least four crore people expected to arrive for the Kanwad Mela the State government will shower flowers on the Kanwadiyas.
Haridwar district magistrate Vinay Shankar Pandey while giving a presentation about the preparations for Kanwad Mela said that 13 parking lots have been made for the event with a capacity of 60,000 vehicles. In addition three parking spaces are reserved for special circumstances. For smooth operation of Kanwad Yatra, 12 super zones, 32 zones and 134 sectors have been created in the Mela area while 17 temporary health camps have been set up in the entire Mela area. Adequate arrangement of ambulances has been made in the medical centres.
