Official events to be held at Mukhya Sevak Sadan in Doon, similar system in districts
In a step which is being viewed as an austerity measure, the Uttarakhand government has banned the government departments from holding programmes and events in hotels in the provisional State capital Dehradun.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Saturday that he has ordered the chief secretary SS Sandhu that all such government programmes which are held in some hotel or any private place should be organised in the chief minister’s residence (Mukhya Sevak Sadan) in Dehradun. He said that similar arrangements should be made in the districts as well. The order of the CM Dhami is being seen as an austerity measure as government departments spend lavishly in holding some events or programmes in hotels or any private places. The order could also result in reducing the number of programmes, many of which are largely unnecessary.
