CM Dhami inaugurates Bal Vatikas in Anganwadi centres as part of NEP
The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami formally announced the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 in Uttarakhand by inaugurating the Bal Vatikas in the Anganwadi centres at the Education directorate on Tuesday. These Vatikas are part of the curriculum of the NEP-2020. The State government has claimed that Uttarakhand has become the first state to implement the NEP-2020. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the NEP is a revolutionary step in the field of education taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He expressed confidence that NEP-2020 would help in making the future of children bright. Dhami said that the NEP -2020 has been prepared while keeping in mind the ancient knowledge and culture of India. He said that the NEP-2020 would be fully implemented in the state by the year 2030. Dhami said that the state would be celebrating the silver jubilee of its creation in the year 2025 and all the departments of the state have been directed to bring some of their special projects on ground. He exhorted the education department to undertake some works which can be termed as an example for others. Dhami added that his government is moving forward with an objective of making the state one of the leading states of the country. Dhami announced that repair of the dilapidated buildings of the Anganwadi centres would be undertaken.
Speaking on the occasion, the education and health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the 4,457 Bal Vatikas have started functioning in as many Anganwadi centres in the state and these Vatikas would be opened in all Anganwadi centres within the next 15 days. He said that under the NEP-2020 choice based education would be provided to the students and for it Yoga, Veda, Purans, local languages and Sanskrit based education would also be provided to the students. The minister said that facilities at par with the nursery section of the private schools would be provided in the Bal Vatikas.
On the occasion CM Dhami inaugurated a new building of the primary education directorate and laid the foundation stone of State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT). He also released a skill book and career guide to inculcate entrepreneurship skills in the students.
The Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, director general of Education Bansidhar Tiwari, additional director Dipti Singh, Education director (Secondary) RK Kunwar, SCERT director Seema Jaunsari, director of primary education Vandana Gabriyal and others were present on the occasion.
