Heavy rainfall unlikely in State on Independence Day

The Independence Day celebrations are not likely to be affected by heavy rainfall in most parts of the State today. The State meteorological centre has forecast that light to moderate rainfall/thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in all districts of Uttarakhand with intense showers possible at isolated places in the mountainous regions of the State on Monday.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience partly to generally cloudy skies with light rain/thundershowers likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 32 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Monday.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 33.7 degrees Celsius and 25.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.4 degrees Celsius and 25.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21.2 degrees Celsius and 15.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 25 degrees Celsius and 19.2 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. With various parts of the State receiving moderate rainfall on Sunday, there was 21 millimetres rainfall in Dehradun, 52 millimetres in Didihat, 48 millimetres in Rishikesh, 42.5 millimetres in Mussoorie, 39 millimetres in Nainital and 18 millimetres in Pauri.
