About 4 lakh pilgrims visit Badrinath & Kedarnath so far

About four lakh pilgrims have visited the Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines since the temples were reopened to the public earlier this month. According to information provided by the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), 3,93,628 people had visited the temples of Badrinath and Kedarnath till the evening of May 17. This figure was expected to reach four lakh by late in the evening on Tuesday, said BKTC officials.
The portals of Badrinath temple in Chamoli district had been reopened to the public on May 8. From that date till the evening (4 PM) of May 17, a total of 1,78,705 pilgrims had paid their obeisance to the lord at the Badrinath temple. A total of 14,677 pilgrims had visited the Badrinath temple on Tuesday till 4 PM. Similarly, the portals of the Kedarnath shrine in Rudraprayag district had been reopened to the public on May 6. From that date till the evening of May 17, a total of 2,14,923 pilgrims had offered their prayers at the Kedarnath temple. A total of 12,185 pilgrims had visited the shrine on Tuesday till the evening, according to the BKTC.
