Thursday, 10 January 2019 | PNS | Haridwar— The khaki is under the scanner with a spike in allegation of sexual harassment being tagged to it. Coming close on the heels of the ASP getting embroiled in sexual harassment row, a constable has come up in the news with the same charge dogging him. He has allegedly sexually assaulted a minor. The investigation is on, said the police. Notably, a complaint had been lodged long ago to the then SSP Krishna Kumar V K by the minor but things had been shoved under the carpet with police choosing to maintain a stony silence. Now it has surfaced again after a complainant was lodged again at a police station, leaving the law-enforcing agency red-faced. Things rolling on, the SP city Mamta Vohra has been assigned to probe the charge. Queried over the matter by The Pioneer, SSP Janmajay Khanduri said, “The probe is on into the matter. Action would be taken against the accused if the investigation finds him guilty.” Mention worthy, a few days ago, a woman constable had made sexual harassment allegations against ASP Parikshit Kumar. The complaint had been made to then SSP Haridwar Ridhim Agarwal on December 28 last. The very next day, a probe had been initiated. However, the proceedings of the probe had been kept away from the cops working in the circle. The matter has been closed following an apology tendered by the senior cop. It is now left to the director general of police to decide whether any action would be taken against the officer in accordance with the norms or not.
