Alert- severe cold day conditions likely in plains today
Maximum temperature drops six degrees below normal in Dehradun

Cold day conditions were experienced in Dehradun and other parts of the State, especially in the plains on Friday. The mercury dipped by a few notches while the skies remained partially cloudy in the provisional State capital which along with other cities in the plains experienced foggy conditions. The maximum temperature dropped by six degrees below normal in Dehradun and Pantnagar which resulted in cold day conditions. Foggy conditions exacerbated the cold and affected visibility during the morning and evening hours in Dehradun and other places in the plains. Similar weather is forecast on Saturday with the State meteorological centre issuing an orange warning (Alert) regarding the possibility of dense fog likely to occur in some parts and cold to severe cold day conditions likely to occur at many places of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of dense fog likely to occur at isolated places and cold day conditions likely to occur at a few places in plains of Dehradun, Pauri and Nainital districts today. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky with mist/fog likely to occur during early morning/morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 15 degrees Celsius and seven degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Saturday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Friday were 13.4 degrees Celsius and 6.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 12.5 degrees Celsius and 8.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 18.7 degrees Celsius and 5.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 18.8 degrees Celsius and 5.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
