Bansal new Dehradun DM, to focus on traffic & preventing land frauds

Savin Bansal assumed charge of district magistrate of the Dehradun district on Thursday. He replaced Sonika, who has now been appointed as chief executive officer of Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) along with designated the charge of additional secretary in Cooperatives. Addressing the mediapersons after assuming the office, the DM emphasised his key priorities and answered questions from the media. He said that his main focus will be bringing significant improvement in sanitation, drainage and traffic and parking issues in urban areas. “The administration will work on bringing parking charges to a nominal fee to encourage maximum people to park vehicles at parking lots,” he said. Besides this, strict action will be ensured in crimes like land frauds and bootlegging among others. He said that the district administration will also ensure proper coordination among all departments, especially between the Excise and Police. He assured that all cases related to land scams will be taken seriously and strict action will be initiated against those involved in fraud. On the question of how he will handle political pressure that often comes in handling such issues, the DM said, “The administration will continue its work irrespective of the political objectives.” Bansal said that he will also work on making improvements in public hearing to address the grievances of maximum people. Besides this, the timely execution of government schemes along with quality work will also be ensured, he added. After assuming responsibility for the district treasury’s double lock system, DM also conducted an inspection of the sections in the court complex. During the inspection, Bansal reviewed various administrative functions and expressed his commitment to improving the district’s governance.
