The Ministry of Railways has approved the operation of a bi-weekly express train between Ramnagar and Dehradun, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the people in the Kumaon and Garhwal regions.
According to officials, the 15310/15309 Ramnagar–Dehradun–Ramnagar bi-weekly express train will leave Ramnagar every Wednesday and Friday at 5:50 AM, arriving in Dehradun at 12:40 PM. On its return journey, the train will depart from Dehradun at 3:55 PM the same day and reach Ramnagar at 11:30PM. The train will make stops at Kashipur, Roshanpur, Pipalsana, Moradabad, Najibabad and Haridwar along the way. This will be the first express train to operate between Ramnagar and Dehradun, meeting a long-pending demand from the region.
Officials further stated that this train service will provide significant benefits to students, farmers, traders and other passengers from the districts of Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar and Dehradun in Uttarakhand, as well as from Moradabad and Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh. It will enable passengers to travel to the provisional State capital, Dehradun and the holy city of Haridwar, allowing them to complete their work in a single day and return conveniently.
Additionally, the train will be advantageous for tourists and wildlife enthusiasts visiting Jim Corbett National Park, as well as for devotees traveling to the Girija Devi Temple near Ramnagar and other religious and mythological sites like Sitavani. It will also enhance rail connectivity for pilgrims traveling from Haridwar and Dehradun to the Char Dham shrines, which include Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Officials said that for the convenience of passengers, the train will include air-conditioned Second Class, air-conditioned third class, air-conditioned chair car, sleeper class, second class chair car and general second class coaches.
