BIS delegation meets CM, discusses standardisation in U’khand

A delegation led by the director and head, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Dehradun branch, Saurabh Tiwari met  chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami here on Friday and discussed various matters related to standardisation in the State. The delegation included representatives from academia, industry and consumer organisations.

Tiwari said that several topics such as mandatory incorporation of Indian Standards (IS) in government procurement process, training programmes for departmental officials, adoption of IS- based regulations (SP 73:2023) for building construction and implementation of management system standards (such as IS 15700, ISO 9001, ISO 21001) in various government departments  had been taken up for discussion.

He further said that the CM had appreciated the suggestions and assured to issue necessary guidelines to the departments concerned to strengthen standardisation in Uttarakhand to ensure quality services and sustainable development leading to ‘Developed Uttarakhand and PM-envisioned ‘Developed India’ by 2047.
