In latest news from Dehradun, the senior BJP leader, former mayor of Municipal Corporation of Dehradun and Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli created a little flutter when he said while addressing a rally organised by the party’s youth affiliate at Pavilion Ground in the city that had his party not been a disciplined party bound by loyalty norms, it would have convened the rally itself demanding enactment of appropriate land laws to preserve the identity of the original inhabitants of Uttarakhand. Notably, when the BJP rally was on, another rally with demand for enactment of land laws to protect the land rights of the original inhabitants of the State from enactment by the land sharks from outside was being held in Parade Ground, a little distance away. Chamoli’s circuitous criticism of the party leadership on the emotive issue left the saffron party leaders sitting on the dais embarrassed. Chamoli though said that the BJP-helmed State government looked set to take positive decisions on these sensitive matters soon.
