Former Khanpur MLA and BJP leader Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ has said that he is interested in contesting the Lok Sabha election from Uttar Pradesh. He also welcomed the step taken by the State government for facilitating transfer of land for setting up an industrial estate by the State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIIDCUL) in the Laksar Tehsil of Haridwar district. The former MLA said that he has persistently pursued this issue and that the government has responded positively.
Addressing the media at the Uttaranchal Press Club on Monday, Champion said that he is interested in contesting the coming Lok Sabha election from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh. “I have conveyed to the party’s leadership that I wish to contest the parliamentary election from Uttar Pradesh. I have told the party leaders that I would like to contest from Meerut, Amroha, Saharanpur or Bijnor,” he said.
On being asked about why he is not trying to contest from Haridwar constituency and seeking a ticket in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, he said that the BJP’s Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ is a two-time sitting MP of Haridwar. “I will not like to oppose his candidature. Even after election from a constituency in UP, I will raise issues of both my constituency and issues related to Uttarakhand,” he added.
