Congress spokesperson, Garima Mehra Dasauni said that one might wonder whether the State saffron party lacked credible leaders to replace Bhatt. “Several names were being discussed for the post, but eventually, the party zeroed in on Bhatt, reducing the election to a formality,” she said.
Hurling a barb at the ruling party on the ‘much-trumpeted one post one person principle’, she said that the saffron leadership continued to trample upon it by foisting the same person on more than one post. “Earlier, between 2012 and 2017, Ajay Bhatt played the dual role of the leader of opposition in the Assembly and the State party president. The same is happening again. This not just indicates but confirms the grim leadership crisis the saffron party in the State has been grappling with,” she said, adding that this- a bad omen for democracy- revealed dictatorial functioning.
