Congress attacks Dhami Govt for using force on unemployed youth

Friday, 10 February 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The leaders of Uttarakhand Congress have condemned the use of force by the Police on the protesting students and unemployed youth in Dehradun on Thursday.  The party has decided to hold a State-wide protest on Friday on the issue. The members of the party would burn the effigies of the government to protest against what they called police atrocities on the unemployed youths. To register their protest against the use of force on the unemployed, the leaders of the Youth Congress sat on a Dharna at the headquarters of the Uttarakhand Congress on Thursday night.

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that instead of giving employment the BJP government rained lathis on the protesting youth. He said that there is a clear involvement of the leaders of ruling party in the recruitment scams in the State which proves that the scams are getting the patronage of the government. Mahara said that the unemployed youth are being deprived of their rights and from day one the Uttarakhand Congress was demanding that a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry monitored by a sitting judge of the High Court should be conducted in the recruitment scams. He said that on the night of February 8, the police manhandled the youths holding peaceful Dharna at Gandhi Park. The PCC president demanded that action should be taken against the officers involved in this late night action on the youth.

The leader of opposition (LoP) in the Assembly Yashpal Arya said that by using brutal force on the youngsters, the Uttarakhand government has proved that it intends to suppress the voice of protest by use of force. He said that it has become a norm in the State that every recruitment examination gets affected by a copying and cheating mafia. Arya said that in such a situation the youth are demanding that all recruitment examinations should be suspended till the investigation of all scams get complete and a stringent anti-copying act is implemented and they are fully justified in this demand. He said the government is giving punishment for the failure of its agencies to the youngsters which the people of the state would not tolerate. Arya said that the Uttarakhand Congress would support the youth and unemployed on the streets and in the Assembly.
