The Pradesh Congress Committee vice president Suryakant Dhasmana has demanded that the State government should inform about the status of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe request sent by it to the central government in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) paper leak case.
Addressing a press conference at the headquarters of the State Congress on Tuesday, Dhasmana said that the question paper of the graduate level examination of UKSSSC was leaked a month ago on September 21. He said that from day one, the Congress had demanded a CBI probe monitored by a sitting judge of the HC, removal of the UKSSC chairperson GS Martolia and cancellation of the examination.
He said that the Congress party started a state level protest against the paper leak. In view of the Congress protest and anger of the unemployed, the CM went to the agitation site of the students and promised to conduct a CBI probe in the paper leak. Dhasmama said that after sending a request for a CBI probe, the government set up a single member inquiry commission headed by former HC judge Justice UC Dhyani in the paper leak case. He said that within days the commission handed over its interim report to the CM based on which the government ordered the UKSSSC to cancel the paper. Dhasmana said even after 23 days of CM’s request the status of CBI probe is still not clear. Questioning the role of some of the leaders of the agitation of the unemployed, the Congress leader said they have changed colours after the CM’s assurance of CBI probe and setting up of one member judicial commission. He said that the youngsters of the State are eager to know the names of the people responsible for the paper leak and want immediate removal of the UKSSSC chairperson from his post.
