Covid-19 contagion on the wane in Uttarakhand

Only 82 new cases and two deaths reported on Sunday, vaccine shortage hits drive in State
In a clear indication that the second wave of contagion of Covid-19 in Uttarakhand has subsided to a great extent, the state health department reported less than 100 cases of the disease on Sunday. The authorities reported 82 new cases, two deaths and 122 recoveries from the disease on Sunday. In fact all the districts of the state barring provisional state capital Dehradun reported six or less number of new cases of the disease in the day. The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state is now at 3,39,619 while a total of 3,24,249 patients have recovered from the disease. The death toll from the disease in the state has increased to 7088. The recovery percentage from the disease is now at 95.47 and the sample positivity rate is at 6.22 percent in the state. The authorities collected 16,937 samples in different parts of the state on Sunday.
Death of one patient each was reported from Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on Sunday.
Dehradun district reported 38, Haridwar, Pauri, Tehri and Udham Singh Nagar six each cases of the disease. Bageshwar, Nainital and Champawat reported four cases each while Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi reported two cases each of Covid19. Almora and Chamoli reported one case each of the disease.
The state now has 2,465 active patients of the disease. Dehradun district is at top of the table in the list of active cases with 694 cases while Haridwar is in the second position with 300 active cases. Pithoragarh has 296, Bageshwar 195, Pauri 174, Nainital 154, Almora 116, Rudraprayag 112, Chamoli 102, Champawat and Tehri 99 each, Udham Singh Nagar 82 and Uttarkashi 42 active cases of the disease.
The state reported six new cases of Mucormycosis (Black fungus) on Saturday after which it now has 486 patients of the disease. Deaths of two patients were also reported from the disease on the day. A total of 92 patients have so far died from this disease while 80 have recovered.
Meanwhile the all important vaccination drive slowed down on Sunday due to shortage of vaccines. The department could vaccinate only 23,917 people in 280 sessions held on the day. The health department has sought 20 lakh doses of the vaccine from the centre. A total of 7,71,418 people have been fully vaccinated while 34,41,875 people have been partially vaccinated in the state
