Covid-19- Relief as new cases count dip substantially in U’khand

2,071 new cases, 7,051 recoveries reported on Monday
In an indication that the worst phase in the second wave of the pandemic in Uttarakhand is probably over, the state health department reported only 2071 cases of Covid 19 on Monday. This is the lowest single day number in the last 39 days in the state. The fatalities from the disease however continue to cause concern as 122 deaths (95 new, 27 backlog) were reported on the day. The cumulative count of Covid 19 patients in Uttarakhand has mounted to 3,15,590 while the death toll has climbed to 5,927.
A total of 7,051 recoveries were reported by the department on Monday. In Dehradun district alone 3,512 recoveries were reported on the day which brought down the active case count in the provisional state capital below 10000 figure mark after many days. The recovery rate in the state is now at 80.69 per cent and the sample positivity rate is 6.94 per cent.
Out of the 95 deaths reported on Monday, 17 occurred at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, nine at Himalayan hospital Dehradun, eight each at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun and Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun, seven each at Military Hospital Dehradun and Sushila Tiwari Government Hospital Haldwani and five at district hospital Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar.
The provisional state capital Dehradun reported 423 new cases of the disease on Monday. Udham Singh Nagar reported 355, Haridwar 264, Nainital 223, Chamoli 175, Pauri 164, Rudraprayag 114, Uttarkashi 85, Almora 82, Pithoragarh 64, Tehri 48, Champawat 42 and Bageshwar 32 new cases of the disease on Monday.
The state now has 49,579 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to remains at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 9,174 patients; Haridwar has 8,166, Udham Singh Nagar 6,165, Pauri 5,231, Tehri 4,713 , Nainital 3,613, Chamoli 2,396, Rudraprayag 2,308, Almora 2,249, Pithoragarh 1,515, Uttarkashi 1,389, Bageshwar 1,333, and Champawat 882 active cases of the disease.
To contain the contagion of Covid-19, the state administration has set up 481 containment zones in different parts of the state. In the ongoing vaccination drive 23,829 people were vaccinated in 336 sessions in different parts of the state on Monday. A total of 6,81,175 people have been fully vaccinated while 21,23,933 have received the first dose of the vaccine.
