PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal has said that the murder of a young woman in broad daylight in a busy market area in the State capital has exposed the pathetic law and order situation in the State.
He said that murder has shown the law and order situation of the State has completely collapsed and the morale of the fearless criminals is high. In a statement, the PCC president said that the Kotwali police station is located near the place where the murder took place and the main market is always crowded with the people yet the police have remained insensitive to the safety of the general public.
“Whether it’s women’s safety or the safety of common people, the State police have failed in every area. Criminals are getting away with crimes, while the police are trying to mislead the public. In the Ankita Bhandari murder case the Police have failed to uncover the VIP involved in the crime,’’ he said.
The leader of opposition (LoP), Yashpal Arya said that it is unfortunate that the police have become a silent spectator even as women are being murdered in the State. He alleged that despite a spate of heinous crimes in Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar districts, the government has taken action against the senior police officers.
The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress, Garima Dasauni said that murder of three women have occurred in the last five days in the provisional capital of State. She said that these murders have shown that the law and order does not exist in the State and the morale of the criminals is very high. Dasauni said that the Dhami government has proved to be a failure in every front including women safety and law and order. She demanded that fast track investigation should be ordered in these cases and responsibility should be fixed for women safety.
