The Dehradun police found the decomposing body of a 32-year-old woman in a lodge located in the Jakhan area of Rajpur Road on Thursday. The superintendent of police (City) Sarita Dobhal informed that the woman has been identified as a native of West Bengal who was living in the lodge as a tenant along with her husband.
The police came to know about the dead body when the caretaker of the lodge arrived to clean it on Thursday and found the decomposing body of the deceased under a bed which was probably there for over a month, said Dobhal. She said that both were probably living in the Rajpur Road area due to work purposes but nothing is clearly determined yet. It appears to be a murder case but since the body has severely decomposed, the police will get the clearer picture once the forensic and medical teams present their report, added the SP.
She also stated that the police could not establish any contact with the husband of the deceased until late evening on Thursday. He also belongs to West Bengal and is currently a prime suspect in the case. She said that the police are gathering the evidence and talking to people who might have interacted with the deceased or her husband to gather more information about them.
