In latest news from Uttarakhand, the bridges being built on the Dharasu- Tarakot –Jivya are not benefitting the rural people as they remain unconnected to the roads they use. Due to this, the vehicle owners of the area are forced to take alternative routes.
There is a total of five bridges on this motor road out of which one was built under PMGSY while the task of building the remaining bridges was given to Bridge, Ropeway, Tunnel and other Infrastructure Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (BRIDCUL). The construction of four bridges being done by BRIDCUL is almost complete, but due to the absence of approach roads to connect the bridges to the road, vehicles are not able to move on them. Besides, there is inordinate delay in the soil filling work.
The villagers are demanding the government to connect these bridges with roads and complete soil filling at the earliest so as to enable them to use these bridges.
They further said that their transportation problems are aggravated during the rainy season when the river flowing through this area becomes fierce, making it impossible for their vehicles to move on the alternative route.
A local leader of the BJP’s kisan wing Rajendra Rangad said he had urged the sub-divisional magistrate Dunda to ensure that the villagers are able to commute on these bridges. “We badly need the administration’s intervention to sort out things and thereafter we will start reaping benefits from the bridge construction projects,” he added.
