Dr Gaurav Sanjay presents clinical research work on knee injuries in Montreal

Road accident-related studies that knee injuries are the commonest ones for the bikers

Dr. Gaurav Sanjay of Sanjay Orthopaedic, Spine & Maternity Centre, Jakhan, Dehradun has presented his clinical research work at Triennial 39th SICOT Orthopaedic World meet in Montreal Canada held from October 10 to 13. He said that he had noticed in his road accident-related studies that knee injuries are the commonest ones for the bikers. Approximately, 8-10% of knee fractures (proximal tibia fractures) developed compartment syndrome, he said and added that the fractures around the knee are caused by high energy trauma. He said he has shown with the pictures that acute compartment syndrome develops rapidly over hours or within a day. Compartment syndrome is caused due to pressure by inside bleeding or outside pressure from plaster, or by both on the blood vessels. This pressure on the blood vessels can compromise the viability of limb which leads to gangrene and ultimately amputation of a limb if impending compartment syndrome could not be treated properly in time. Knee fractures with compartment syndrome present a challenging problem to orthopedic surgeons, according to Dr. Sanjay. He has shown the results at the World Orthopaedic meet how he had prevented the disastrous complications of acute compartment syndrome in knee fractures in the bikers from April 2011 to December 2017. read more post… Wednesday, 17 October 2018 | PNS | Dehradun–
