First woman CS Radha Raturi takes charge of U’khand administration

Senior Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer Radha Raturi has taken the charge as the new chief secretary of Uttarakhand. She took over the charge from the outgoing CS Sandhu who superannuated on Wednesday. Raturi is the first woman CS of the State. Interacting with The Pioneer, Raturi said that implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) would be the top priority of the state administration. She said that she would work for women empowerment in the State.
The CS said that UCC will empower the women and provide justice to them. Raturi said that she would focus on encouraging teamwork in the administration. She said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the current decade belongs to Uttarakhand and the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is taking the State forward as per the vision of PM. Raturi said that she will encourage team work and move forward on the mantra of simplification, solution, disposal and satisfaction in the administration given by CM Dhami. She added that efforts will be made to ensure that the benefit of the government’s welfare schemes reaches to the last person standing on the social ladder.
The additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary R K Sudhanshu, Secretaries Shailesh Bagoli, A S Hyanki and other officers were present when Raturi took charge.
An officer of the 1988 batch of IAS, Raturi is slated to retire in March this year. However in view of the Lok Sabha elections the Dhami government can give her an extension.
