Five personalities chosen for Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman 2022

Three out of five selected Uttarakhand natives to be presented award posthumously

Following the recommendation of the selection committee the Uttarakhand government has chosen three eminent personalities from Uttarakhand for the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman Award 2022. Three of the recipients will be presented the award posthumously. According to a communication issued by the State government, the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman Award 2022 will be presented posthumously to the late Chief of Defence Staff general Bipin Rawat, famous poet, writer and lyricist, the late Girish Chandra Tiwari ‘Girda’ and the late Viren Dangwal who was active in the spheres of poetry, literature and journalism.

Apart from these three, the award will also be conferred upon the current national security advisor Ajit Kumar Doval and writer, lyricist and chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification Prasoon Joshi. Along with the awards for 2022, the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman Awards 2021 will also be presented on the State foundation day on November 9 at police lines in Dehradun. Those who were selected for the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman Awards 2021 include the late former chief minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari, noted author Ruskin Bond, mountaineer Bachendri Pal, popular folk singer Narendra Singh Negi and environmentalist Anil Prakash Joshi.
