Four injured in mishap while returning from Baisakhi bath

Four persons were injured in a road accident when a car fell into a 70 metre deep gorge near Luthinala in Nainidanda area of Pauri district on Thursday morning. The people in the car were returning from Haridwar after bathing in the Ganga on the occasion of Baisakhi.It is being stated that the accident occurred when the driver dozed off while driving. All the injured persons were admitted to the community health centre at Nainidanda for treatment.The seriously injured Jagat Singh, a resident of Kasana village has been referred to higher centre at Ramnagar in Nainital district.
According to the police, the Dhumakot police station received information about the mishap in the morning. The police station in-charge Deepak Tewari along with a police team and relief and rescue materials reached the accident spot. The police team rescued the injured persons with the help of the local residents.The injured were taken by ambulance to the health centre in Nainidanda while one the seriously injured persons was referred to a higher centre in Ramnagar. The police said that the I-10 car fell off the road and into a 70 metre deep gorge. The driver Ram Singh said that after taking a bath in Haridwar on the occasion of Baisakhi, they were returning when the mishap occurred due to sleepiness.
