Free consultation for blood cancer patients held

Over 100 patients have been given free consultation during the two-day free consultation camp organized by R K Mission Sewashram for the blood cancer patients in its hospital premises. The patients have been given free consultation in two batches, the organizers said, adding that a special session for doctors has been organized on Tuesday at Sewashram during which some experts addressed the doctors on hematology. Speaking to The Pioneer, the Diabetes programme coordinator and in-charge monk of the hospital’s emergency department, Swami Dayadhipananda said, “Haemato oncology specialist doctors from London and Ahmadabad along with volunteers have given free consultation to the patients. We had 50 patients registered for the camp in the morning who were diagnosed with ailments related to blood disorders. Almost the same number was registered for evening OPD. Fee consultation was given to patients with Anaemia, Haemophilia, platelet disorders, bleeding disorders, bone marrow disorders, sickle-cell-disease, Leukaemia, Lymphoma and different types of cancer.” Dr. Atul Mehta and Dr. Ashutosh Wechalekar from London and Dr. Sandip Shah from Ahmadabad Cancer Institute gave a special lecture in the evening to the doctors present.
