Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the installation of the idol at the Nagdevta temple in Nagthat (Birod) in Jaunpur area of Tehri on Sunday. He said that the State government is committed to preserving the folk culture of Uttarakhand. The chief minister announced that Nagthat Birod Mungathat will be declared a tourism area and that the Nagthat temple complex will be beautified and extended. He further announced that a motor road will be built till Darogi in the Purola Vidhan Sabha constituency and from Kukadsari to Badrigad.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhami said that the traditional fairs of the State are old traditions and play an important role in preserving the heritage handed down by the ancestors. The State government is committed to preserving the traditional fairs and the folk culture of Uttarakhand, he said. The government is also making consistent efforts so that the fairs and culture of Uttarakhand do not remain limited to the State but are also recognised in India and abroad. “We are also working to provide an identity to our culture on the global platform.
Efforts are being undertaken to develop divine sites, places of workshop and historical sites to establish them on the pilgrimage and tourism maps. This will increase the number of tourists and Char Dham pilgrims which in turn will help stop migration. We are working consistently to make Uttarakhand the spiritual and cultural capital of the nation and the world. The Central and State governments are also working to empower the villages and youths, and make the women self-reliant. Our youths are setting up enterprises and working in all sectors while the women are producing various items through self help groups. The government is taking steps to facilitate a market for such products. We are also working to ensure that all facilities reach even remote villages,” said the CM. He expressed confidence stating that the historical site of Nagdevta will be developed on the lines of Nagtibba and emerge on the tourism map.
Dhami said that it is expected that this year more people will undertake the Char Dham Yatra than in the previous year. The State government is making the necessary arrangements for this, he said.
The Dhanaulti MLA Pritam Singh Pawar, Rajpur Road MLA Khajan Das, Purola MLA Durgesh Mall also expressed their views on the occasion.
