‘Hamari Virasat’ to be introduced in school curriculum from class VI to VIII

In latest news from Dehradun, the State school education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the recommendations of the high power committee constituted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) would be implemented in the districts, adding that the director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has been informed of the matter. This aside, a book titled ‘Hamari Virasat’ would be introduced in the school curriculum of the State under the provisions of the National Education Policy 2020 and in the first phase, the book would be introduced in the curriculum from class VI to VIII. The SCERT has been entrusted with the task of preparing this book and a five-member committee headed by the director SCERT has been formed to take things forward. The minister has had a statement issued for the media from poll-bound Rajasthan where he has been staying now for campaigning or other election-related works. He further informed through the statement that NCERT had recommended use of the word ‘Bharat’ instead of ‘India’ in the text books. Plus, the NCERT committee recommended introduction of the Bharatiya knowledge systems in the school curriculum, he added.
