Harish Rawat extends support to UPNL workers

Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat has extended his support to the agitation of the UPNL workers. Rawat visited the protest of these workers on Friday to extend his support. He also observed a fast of one hour to express his solidarity with the UPNL workers. Rawat said that it is unfortunate that the UPNL workers are getting no protection of service even after serving for years. “Many of these workers have given a large portion of their life in the service of the State government but they are being removed from jobs. These workers are also not being paid properly,’’ he said.

The former CM said that the Congress government in the year 2016 had made a plan to regularise the services of these workers and the government should follow it. He said that the government had an opportunity to regularise these workers when the HC had given a ruling in their favour but the government filed a SLP in SC.
