Heavy rain warning issued for most districts

Dehradun and various other parts of the State witnessed light to moderate rain on Saturday with the provisional State capital witnessing a few intermittent spells of bright sunlight and sudden showers leading to brief waterlogging in some parts of the city. Similar weather is expected on Sunday with the State meteorological centre issuing a warning (alert) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat districts on Sunday. The centre also issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar, Tehri, Almora, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts today. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense/very intense spells are also likely to occur at isolated places in the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in the districts of the State on Sunday.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience partly to generally cloudy skies. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, one or two spells of which may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 31 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 31.6 degrees Celsius and 24.9 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 32.5 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 25.1 degrees Celsius and 16.4 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 21 degrees Celsius and 18.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. There was 51.4 millimetres rainfall in Kaladhungi, 24.5 millimetres in Jaspur, 22.5 millimetres in Haldwani, 16 millimetres in Srinagar and 7.4 millimetres in Dehradun.
