Kharge to kickstart Congress election campaign in U’khand today

Congress party president Mallikarjun Kharge will kickstart the campaign of the party for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Uttarakhand by addressing a mega workers conclave here on Sunday. In a show of strength all the top leaders of the state Congress addressed a joint Press conference at the Rajiv Bhawan on Saturday and exhorted the party workers to attend the conclave in large numbers.
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that the Uttarakhand Congress is fortunate that the party President is starting the Lok Sabha campaign of the party from the State. He said that the voice of Kharge is the voice of downtrodden, poor and deprived sections of the society. He said that Uttarakhand holds the dubious distinction of being the leading state among the nine Himalayan states where the crime against women is highest.
The leader of Opposition (LoP) in the State Assembly, Yashpal Arya said that Kharge has a wide political and administrative experience and his visit will boost the morale of the party workers. He said that BJP has no agenda of development and it only misleads the people.
Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat said that Kharge is not only the President of the Congress party but also heads the INDIA bloc. He said that Kharge’s visit is very important for the state and appealed to the party workers to attend the public meeting of the national president of the party. Rawat said that Kharge will give a clarion call of change from Uttarakhand. He said that today all sections of the society including farmers, women, unemployed, workers and employees are feeling cheated by the government and the people are reeling under the load of increasing prices.
He said that the attempt of the BJP government in Assam to disrupt the Yatra of Rahul Gandhi and denial by the administration on the Congress party’s request to grant Parade Ground as the venue of public meeting of Kharge shows that the BJP believes in politics of vendetta.
Former PCC president Preetam Singh said that the law and order situation in the State has derailed completely. He said that the parents of Ankita Bhandari have revealed the name of the VIP involved in the murder but the government is not paying any heed to the demand of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case. He said that the Agniveer scheme has hit the interests of the youngsters. The former PCC president Ganesh Godiyal said that the High Court (HC) has compared the mining scams in the state with the 2G scams. The State government has to eat a humble pie in the mining scam and the horticulture scam. He said that the people of the State have high hopes from the Congress party. The former MP Pradeep Tamta said that the crime against women and Dalits have increased tremendously in Uttarakhand.
