A man and a woman were found dead inside a taxi parked behind Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun on Monday. The officials informed that a vehicle was found parked on Nagal Wali Road behind Sahastradhara helipad, with a man and a woman lying unconscious inside. The incident was reported to Rajpur police station through the control room on Monday morning after which a police team reached the spot. Upon arrival, the police found a Wagon R taxi parked by the roadside. Inside the vehicle, a man identified as Rajesh Sahu (50) and a woman named Maheshwari (45) appeared to be unconscious. Both individuals were found in a normal seated position within the vehicle. The police observed that the vehicle’s ignition was on and it is believed that the air conditioning may have been running continuously throughout the night. This could have led to a build-up of gas or temperature effects inside the vehicle, potentially causing their deaths, the officials said. The officials said that Sahu was a driver and Maheshwari was a widow and both lived in the same locality, Kath Bangla in the Rajpur area. During initial questioning, it was revealed that both Rajesh and Maheshwari were habitual consumers of alcohol. Their families have not raised any suspicions regarding the incident. The officials said that the preliminary examination of the scene did not indicate any suspicious circumstances. The forensic team also conducted a thorough inspection of the scene but did not find any suspicious items or evidence. Initial assessments suggest that the deaths might have been due to overconsumption of alcohol combined with the effects of the vehicle’s AC. The police are conducting detailed inquiries, questioning locals and exploring all possible angles to understand the incident better. Further investigations are ongoing and the actual cause of death will be determined following the post-mortem report, the officials said.
