MCD plans to restrict littering in public places
In order to restrict the garbage disposal in public places, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will form teams in all the wards to raise awareness against littering in public places and penalise locals too under the Anti-littering Act.
The similar kind of proposal was also passed in the first board meeting last year in which mayor had talked about hiring some reputed Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) which will also raise awareness among locals and penalise them too for repeated garbage dumping in public places but this plan couldn’t go ahead as planned due to Covid-19 pandemic, informed officials.
Moreover, the chief municipal health officer, Dr Kailash Joshi said that the corporation is definitely considering taking this plan ahead and making it as part of sanitation work carried out in the city. He said that the corporation needs some time for proper planning but within a few months, the MCD will either make teams or appoint some organisations to restrict littering in public places which will also possibly help to awake the civic sense among the locals responsible for garbage dumping in public places.
