MCD to remove 23 encroachments from Jakhan and Kishanpur

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has started taking action against the encroachment on government lands across the city as per the order of the High Court. The municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal informed that the officials of the land section of MCD has started identifying and measuring the encroached pieces of land in Jakhan and nearby areas under the anti-encroachment drive of the corporation.
He said that the corporation had marked some lands about three years ago on the basis of which, the land section is taking action to remove encroachment from Jakhan and nearby areas. “The MCD has already removed encroachments in some locations and is planning to remove 23 encroachments including 16 encroachments in Kishanpur and seven in Jakhan within a week. Most of the construction there are residential structures which have been built near/on a canal or Naala. The corporation is currently following necessary standard procedures like measuring the land among others before removing the encroachments, stated the commissioner. He added that the corporation will soon start identifying encroachments in other locations of the city too to take necessary action against them.
