Aiming to make the Baikunth Chaturdashi fair 2024 a grand event, the Municipal Corporation of Srinagar (MCS) placed a suggestion box in its premises on Wednesday to seek ideas from the public. The officials informed that a meeting was conducted by the cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat on Tuesday in the auditorium of the government Medical College Srinagar to discuss preparations for the upcoming fair. He instructed the organisers to ensure a magnificent celebration and invited suggestions from everyone to facilitate the smooth conduct of the event. He had also emphasised giving special priority to local artists to connect the event with the region’s ancient culture and heritage.

Considering this, the MCS placed a suggestion box within premises on Wednesday where individuals can submit their written suggestions. They informed that once the suggestion period closes on October 20, 2024, the submitted recommendations will be reviewed and important suggestions will be incorporated to enhance the fair’s grandeur. The officials stated that the corporation is also planning to involve 25,000 school children for a Kalash Yatra in the fair from Kamleshwar Mahadev Temple to Maa Dhari Devi Temple as per Rawat’s suggestion. Besides this, suggestions like marathon and anti-drug awareness programmes by the Police department and holding a local book festival to promote cultural and literary engagement, are also under consideration, as per the officials. They said that MCS is gearing up to ensure Baikunth Chaturdashi Fair becomes a memorable celebration, reflecting the cultural richness and traditions of the region.
