In latest news from Dehradun, the vice-chairman of Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) Banshidhar Tiwari announced that they are all set to re-launch a massive plantation drive involving medicinal and fruit- bearing tress on both sides of the major roads in Dehradun. He said that the horticulture department has been asked to bring more speed in the execution of tree plantation drive project, adding that the plantation target set for this season would be met soon. The drive was launched on the occasion of Harela festival and since the launch, 40,000 saplings have been planted with stress laid on medicinal plants like Arjuna and Giloy. He further announced that the MDDA has launched Selfie with Sapling competition under which anyone can click a selfie with sapling and upload it with MDDA’s website www. mddaonline.com A lucky draw would be held as part of this programme in September and the ten competitors to be selected would be gifted bicycles.
