MDDA V-C inspects beautification works

Officials speed up works ahead of Investors Summit

Monday, 01 October 2018 | PNS | Dehradun– With the State Government focusing all its efforts on sprucing up Dehradun in time for the first investor’s summit to be held here on October 7-8, the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) vice chairman Ashish Kumar Srivastav along with officials inspected the various beautification works undertaken in the city. In view of the investor’s summit slated to be inaugurated by prime minister Narendra Modi in Dehradun on October 7, the MDDA had started various beautification works in the city. During the inspection, the vice chairman directed that all the works should be completed on time. Most of the fountains set up by the authority were found to be working properly. Srivastav directed that the fountains now working properly should be made operational by October 1. The roadside railings at Astley Hall along Rajpur Road and at Connaught Place on Chakrata Road should be painted afresh, he directed. Along with the team of officials, Srivastav also inspected the wall murals put up at various locations in the city. He issued directions for repairing or lighting wherever needed. The MDDA has also placed potted plants at various localities in the city. In places where the flora was not found to have been planted properly, the MDDA vice chairman issued necessary directions for planting them properly. The need was also felt for placing potted plants in some other locations, considering which Srivastav directed the officials to do the needful. While inspecting the street lights installed in various parts of the city, the alignment of some of the street lights was not found to be proper. He directed the officials to ensure that this anomaly is repaired without delay. Srivastav said that beautification of the city is one of the authority’s priorities, to fulfill which the MDDA remains committed. The MDDA secretary Prakash Chandra Dumka, superintending engineer Anil Tyagi and other officials were also present with the vice chairman during the inspections. It is pertinent to mention here that the state government is working overtime to spruce up Dehradun city in time for the first investor’s summit being hosted by Uttarakhand in the provisional state capital on October 7-8. Work is already underway on the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat’s orders to ensure road repairs within a week. The construction of the Dat Kali tunnel and Mohkamnpur rail over-bridge has also been completed with these two features slated to be opened for public use before the investor’s summit.
