Minister inaugurates Pantnagar-Jaipur-Ahmedabad flight

The Kumaon region is now connected by air to Jaipur in Rajasthan and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. The Union minister of State for Defence and the Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar MP Ajay Bhatt formally inaugurated the Pantnagar-Jaipur-Ahmedabad flight on Sunday. He said that the start of this flight will enable people to view the tourist attractions in both the States. Bhatt also presented the flight tickets to Haldwani resident S Lata and Birpal Singh on the occasion.
The service was launched by IndiGo Airline on Sunday. The airline has released the flight schedule and started bookings. The flight will depart from Pantnagar airport at 12:15 PM and reach Jaipur airport at 1:40 PM. Congratulating the airlines and citizens on the occasion, Bhatt said that efforts had been underway since the past to enhance air connectivity to various parts of the nation from Uttarakhand. He said that a large number of tourists visit Jaipur and Uttarakhand. Along with the tourists, the start of this flight will provide a convenient means of transport to members of the business fraternity and the public.
This service will also help in boosting tourism development in the State, he said.He recalled that when air service was first started from Dehradun airport, it used to be difficult to have enough number of passengers but now more than two dozen flights are being operated from the Dehradun airport. Efforts are underway to develop the Pantnagar airport on similar lines. Bhatt further said that various works in the Char Dham Yatra and tourism spheres are being executed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The operation of flights to various destinations from Pantnagar will provide income generation opportunities to taxi drivers and others in the area. The Pantnagar-Jaipur-Ahmedabad flight will operate daily from here, he said while adding that the start of this flight is a major achievement. The minister pointed out that earlier there was one flight from Delhi to Pantnagar and now there are two flights daily. Referring to the considerable number of people who had booked their flight on Sunday, he said that the start of this facility will bring a large number of travelers to this part of the State.
