More rain & thunderstorm forecast in State today

Rain experienced in various parts of the State has brought considerable relief from the heat in recent days. There is more rain in store with the State meteorological centre forecasting light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm at a few places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and very light to light rainfall/thunderstorm at isolated places in mountains of the remaining districts on Thursday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the plains of Uttarakhand while surface winds are likely to be strong and gusty during day time. The meteorological centre has also issued a warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Thursday. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunder cloud development in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. Meanwhile, various parts of the State received light to moderate rain on Wednesday. According to the meteorological centre, Raiwala received 30.5 millimetres of rain while there was 23 millimetres rain in Srinagar, 17 millimetres in Kedarnath, 14.5 millimetres in Asharodi, 13.5 millimetres in Koiti and 11.5 millimetres in Kalsi. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places on Wednesday were 33.4 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.5 degrees Celsius and 24.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 26.1 degrees Celsius and 13.7 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.2 degrees Celsius and 14.6 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
